What is the pattern in squaring perfect trinomials?

"Perfect-square trinomials" are quadratics that you got by squaring a binomial. For instance, (x + 5)2 = (x + 5)(x + 5) = x2 + 10x + 25 is a perfect square trinomial.

For example:

(a+b+c)^2
= a^2+b^2+c^2+2ab+2ac+2bc

Square the first, second and third term
twice the 1st and 2nd term
twice the 1st and last term
twice the 2nd and last term

Hope it is true :)
