Well, I understand you. When you said explain is giving an example okay? Like Example: a pen tied by a string on the nail on the wall, the one acting as the tension force is the string that is pulling it up and the opposing force is the gravitational force of the gravity. I hope that helps, that's the only explanation/example I can think of.
