If you are finding the Perimeter of a square the Formula would be
P= 4s, since the length of the side of a square are all equal.
4- because square has 4 sides.
s- refers to sides
then if your finding the are of a square the formula is:
A=S²
You only have to multiply the side to itself.
 i hope it will help.

Perimeter is the distance around a polygon or simply the sum of the sides of a polygon. In this case if we're about to find the formula of a square, we'll use the formula: s + s + s + s or 4s because obviously, square has 4 sides so we're going to multiply the length by 4.

Example:

Find the perimeter of the square which has a length of 7 cm in each side.

4s = s + s + s + s
4(7) = 7 + 7 + 7 + 7
28 = 28

They are both equal so therefore, both of the formulas stated were true and the proof was just stated above.

On the other hand, area is the amount of space there is on a flat surface. The formula in finding the area of the square is s^{2} or s x s.

Find the area of the square which has a length of 7 cm in each side.

s^{2} = sxs
( 7)^{2} = 7(7)
49 = 49
