Cation

We know that when an atom loses an electron, it will become slightly positively charged. Because of this, it forms what is called a cation (a positively charged ion).  An easy way to remember is that if the ion is negative (negative starts with 'n'), then it is an anion (anion has 'n'). That means a cation is going to be the opposite, or positive.
