Tanya, age three, is playing at the water table. In the table are many different types of objects, such as bowls, spoons, funnels, and strainers. Currently, Tanya is using the funnel to fill an empty dishwashing liquid bottle. As Tanya pours the water into the funnel, it begins to fill. Finally, the bottle is full. The teacher encourages Tanya to predict what will happen if she tries to put more water into the bottle. As adults, we know that the water will spill over the sides of the bottle. However, Tanya may or may not realize this yet. Predicting is a way for her to test her ideas
