King Acrisius did not have a son. And because he became diappointed, he went to Delphi to consult wit the Oracle, who later warned him that one day, he will be killed by his daughter Dane's son. During that time, Danae is childless, and for it to stay that way, Acrisisus imprisons her to a bronze chamber in the courtyard. The prison was open to the sky, and because of this, Zeus was able to impregnate her with a golden shower. When Acrisius learns of this, he ordered Danae and his new-born son Preseus to be locked in a chest and then thrown into the sea. Zeus then asks Poseidon to calm the waves, and the two survived. They were found in Seriphos, thanks to Dictys, the brother of the king.
After a lot of years, Perseus becomes a hero, killing the Medusa and rescuing Andromeda in the process. And, in the long run, Persus and his mother returned to Argos with Andoromeda but Acrisius was in Larissa. Perseus went to Larissa soon, and participated in funeral games where he accidentally striked Acrisius's head with a dicus. Acrisius died, and the prophecy was fulfilled.
