That is the formula C=(2)(pi)(r) whre pi = 3.14 and r=radius (half of diameter)

Circumference - distance around a circle

They are the same because both of them are finding the distance around that figure but differ in a way that for polygons, it's called perimeter while for a circle, it's called the circumference.
