the sum of the 2 digits is written as

x+y=17,where x is the tens digit and y is the ones digit

4 times the tens wc is 4x is equal to thrice the ones +12

so 4x -3y=12

eliminate

so (x + y= 17)3

4x-3y=12

add the equation

you get 7x=63

x=9

x+y =17

9+y=17

y=8

the number is 98
