There are 4 easy steps to add dissimilar fractions:
Step 1. Find the LCM of each denominator.
For example:
5/6 + 3/7 = ?
6= 6, 12, 18, 24, 30, 36, 42
7= 7, 14, 21, 28, 35, 42
So, their LCM is 42 which we will turn it into the denominator of the answer.
Step 2. Multiply the numerator with the number of the multiples.
For example:
6= 6, 12, 18, 24, 30, 36, 42
7= 7, 14, 21,28, 35, 42
5×7= 35
3×6= 18
Therefore.... we have: 35/42 and 18/42.
Step 3. Add the following (You can add it easily now because it's similar fractions)
For example:
35/42 + 18/42= 73/42 ← answer
Step 4. Simplify OR divide the answer and there, you have the real answer.

Easier Method:
7/10 + 4/7

Step 1: Multiply the denominators together.
10 x 7 = 70
It will be your denominator.
Step 2: Cross multiply. Multiply the numerator of the first fraction by the denominator of the second fraction. Multiply the denominator of the first fraction by the numerator of the second fraction.
7 x 7 = 49
10 x 4 = 40
Step 3: Summing Up! Add the products together after you cross multiplied.
49 + 40 = 89
Step 4: Bring back the product in step 1 which is 70.
The answer is 89/70
Step 5: Simplify.
89/70 as a mixed number is 1 19/70
