If this is a direct variation:

y = kx

A.)  12 = k4
       12/4 = k4/4
        k = 3

B)  y= kx
     y = (3)(12)
     y = 36

(Please indicate next the type of variation, that is, direct, inverse, joint, or combined.  The four have different expressions/equations.  Thanks.)

I assumed that this is direct variation based on the similar problems you recently posted, which are all direct variations:-)
