Total length: 20 feet
First piece: 6 ¹/₂ feet or 13/2 feet
Second piece:  3 ⁵/₈ feet or 29/8 feet
Third piece: x

Equation:
x = 20 - (13/2 + 29/8)
x = 20 - (52/8 + 29/8)
x = 20 - (81/8)
x = 160/8   -  81/8
x = 79/8

The third or remaining piece is 79/8 feet or 9 ⁷/₈ feet

Check:
52/8  +  29/8  + 79/8 = 20
160/8 = 20
20 = 20

Very nice answer I understand quickly
I am participating tomorrow in my class using this answer and solution thank you very very much madam for helping my homework GOD BLESS YOU.
You're welcome. You may check the other solved, and also approved, problems here involving fractions:-) Don't forget to mention the representation for each piece. This is your spiel: Introduce the representation, then the operation to be used, followed by solution. Stress the final answer. Prove that your answer is correct by checking (the last part).
YES Ma'am ill do it .Thank u very much
