The side or distance between consecutive/adjacent bases is:
x² + x² = 35²

2x² = 35²

 \sqrt{2x^{2} } =  \sqrt{(35) ^{2} }

 \frac{x \sqrt{2} }{ \sqrt{2} } = \frac{35}{ \sqrt{2} } * \frac{ \sqrt{2} }{ \sqrt{2} }

 x=\frac{35 \sqrt{2} }{2}  meter
The distance between adjacent bases is   \frac{35 \sqrt{2} }{2} meter


The area of the ball field is:
Area of Square = (side)²

Area =  (\frac{35 \sqrt{2} }{2} meter)^{2}
