Your home is built on a square lot to add more space to your yard you purchase an additional 8 meters along the side of the property the area of the lot is

now 345 square meters. What are the dimensions of the new lot?

The dimensions should not be higher than the area :-)

is it higher?

23 x 15 =345

DenMath, you are right:-) It's Beth5's answer (1,830) that does not make sense :-) 1,830 is way high for dimension with only 345 square meters as area :-)

X= the side of the square x+8= the side of the enlarged side of the square

the area of x and x+8 is equal to 345m2 where

(x)(x+8)=345 x2+8x=345 then we will factor it using completing the square x2+8x+16=345+16 x2+8x+16=361 then we will square root each side of the equation. x+4=19 x=19-4 x=15meters then the other side is x+8 15+8=23 the new dimension is 23m by 15m. Welcome ;)
