x = smaller number
x + 7 = larger number

x + x + 7 = 27
2x = 27 - 7
2x ÷2 = 20 ÷ 2
x = 10 - smaller number
x + 7 = 10 + 7 = 17 - larger number

Check:
17 + 7 = 27
17 - 7 = 7

1 1 1
.-. I mean, 17 + 10 = 27; and ... 17 - 10 = 7 .... to check ..
sorry typo error..
You got it now :-) x = 17 (the larger number), and y = 10 (the smaller number).
Since this a problem in system, specific x and y should be indicated, and you must show how you were able to come up with x + x + 7 = 27 from  the pair of equations, that is, x + y = 27 (Equation 1) and x - y = 7 (Equation 2).  Have a good Monday.
Its' thanks to you. ☺
