(Proof: Definition of supplementary angles)

Add the supplementary angles:

x + y = 180°

x = 5y

Substitute 5y to x in x + y:

5y + y = 180°

6y = 180°

6y/6 = 180°/6

Therefore:

x = 5y ⇒ 5(30°) = 150°

y = 30°

Check:

150° + 30° = 180°

Therefore, we will have this equation...

6y = 180

150 + 30 = 180
