Magistrate is a civil officer or  a lay judge who administers the law, especially one who conducts  that deals with minor offenses and holds preliminary hearings for more serious ones.

The examples of magistrate in a sentence is:
-They were convened by magistrate, who presided as in the Roman estate.
-He was a mayor since 1903; and was made a magistrate for the country of California.
-I am but the magistrate of the republic. I merely act upon the imagination of the nation.
