Big bag lenght = 16 minus Small bag lenght (8) = 8 total free space in length (L)

First, find the volume of each bag:
     Volume = length × width × height

Bigger bag volume = 16 × 8 × 4
                                =  512 units³

Smaller bag volume = 8 × 4 × 2
                                 = 64 units³

Solve for the space left in the bigger bag:
         
      Space left = 512 units³ - 64 units³
                        =  448 units³           

ANSWER:  448 units³

If you want to know how many smaller bags of the same size as given you can put inside the bigger bag with no breathing space left:
         512 units³ ÷ 64 units³ = 8 smaller bags
