To me, there is a cell that transports water in the stems to the other parts of the plant, it was connected to petiole,which is connector of the leaves to the veins of it, the clue of it when you picked out a leaf, it's petiole will have the remaining watery-like substance that is sticky to touch, but its not super sticky like the carnivous plants like pitcher plant and sarsenia.
