Quadratic equation is a second degree polynomial in the form ax² + bx + c, where a ≠ 0.  Its leading term has a degree or exponent of 2.

Examples:

2x² -2x + 5  ⇒   2x² is the leading term

4x² = 16  transform to 4x² - 16 = 0   ⇒  4x² is the leading term
