If youre going to use the Long Method, just substitute x to each options and whichever has the largest value, thats the answer.

A. (4.25)(4.25) = 18.06.. (ANSWER)

B. (3.2)(3.2) = 10.24

C. (3)(3) = 9

D. (2.45)(2.45) = 6.0025

But the easiest way or the shortcut in finding the answer to this:

Since its 3x+2, just find the largest number in the options, and thats it.

Since 3/4, which is equivalent to 0.75, is the largest value, it will make the largest area of a square.
