When ice cubes are exposed to the air or placed into a drink, heat energy is transferred from the surrounding particles to the ice cube. this occurs because the temperature of the ice cube is lower than its surroundings. the transferral of this heat energy causes the bonds between the H2O particles in the ice cubes to break down, causing the ice to melt.
and the ice will turn to liqiud.
