Oceanic plates are made of basalt. The crusts are thinner but absolutely more denser than the continental plates. When the two oceanic plates collide, at the subduction zone, a very deep trench is formed in the ocean floor. The collision of the two plates results to the formation of volcanic chains. It is because the are thinner and denser, the subducted part reach the mantle and it melts thee crust that forms into magma. This magma rises to the top of the overriding oceanic plates and erupts in the ocean floor. :)
