36=l(w); 50=2(l+w); l+w=25; l=25-w; 36=25-w(w); 36=25w-w^2; w^2-25w+36=0; by quadratic formula find ; w=

To find the dimensions of a rectangle given the area & perimeter
  first step find the factors of   36   =  2,2,3,3
   the dimensions are found within the combination of the factors
    I am unable to find a combination to add up to a perimeter of   50
     I believe the figure is wrong

     let us assume the perimeter is  40
     thus the dimensions  are    2 * 18   =    36  which is the area
                                                         p  =   (2*2) + (18*2)   =  40

            length  = 18
            width   =   2
