Using the formula x = -b ± √(b² - 4ac) all over 2a
Just simply substitute that corresponding values of your equation into the formula
For example 4x² -7x + 2
(This is in the form ax² ± bx ± c where 'a' can never be equal to 0)
a = 4
b = -7
c = 2
Using the formula,
x = [- (-7) ± √(-7)² - 4(4)(2)] / 2(4)
x = (7 ± √49 - 32) / 8
x = (7 ± √17) / 8
Since √17 can't be simplified further we'll just leave it like that
