The degree is basically the exponent of the leading term of the function (the largest exponent) and the leading coefficient is the numerical coefficient of the leading term
For example 2x³ + 6x² + 1; the degree is 3 since it is the largest exponent of the variable x and the leading coefficient is the numerical coefficient of that term which is 2
Another example is 7x²y³ + 2x³ - 3y + 4; the degree is 5 (when there are multiple variables, just add the exponents of the variables) and the leading coefficient is 7
