The krebs  cycle  occurs in the mitochondrial matrix and generates a pool of chemical energy (ATP,NADH. and FADH2) from the oxidation of pyruvate ,the end of glycolysis. Pyruvate is transport into the mitochondria and loses carbon dioxide to from acetyl-CoA,a 2-carbon molecule

Complete oxidation of glucose, it harvests the energy from glucose in the form of reducing power, carried by NAD and FADH. This energy is then brought to the electron transport chain where the majority of ATP is produced.
