Put it in the form of y = a(x - h)^2 + k
by doing so, you'll know that the vertex is at (h,k)

OR put it in the form of y = ax^2 + bx + c and get the vertex through(-b/2a, (4ac - b^2)/4a)

if a>0, the parabola is facing upwards. if a<0, it is facing downwards
